Dragon Well Chinese tea was promoted by imperial history
Another key factor that made Dragon Well Chinese Tea so famous is its uncompetitive imperial history.
Dragon Well Chinese tea successfully has long fascinated Chinese rulers.
At the beginning in the 17th century, it was selected as a tribute tea by one of the best Chinese emperor, Kangxi( the 2nd emperor in Qing Dynasty).
Then it was his grandson Qianlong, the fourth emperor of Qing Dynasty.
Emperor Qianlong paid a trip to West Lake(in Zhejiang province) during one of his famous holidays to Southern China. Under the Lion Peak Mountain in the Hugong Temple, Emperor Qianlong was presented with a glass of Dragon Well Chinese tea.
18 tea bushes were in front of the Temple. Since he was impressed much, he had to conferred to them the special statues of “Imperial Trees”.
That was an exceptional event. In China, very few plants were titled with imperial names. These 18 bushes receive thousands of visitors every day.
Today, there are hundreds of honor teas. Dragon Well Chinese Tea was not the only one. Dragon Well Chinese tea’s charms persist to morden China with Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou while other teas perished and were forgotten…
Both of them were very fond of it. When they had time, they always visited the organic Dragon Well Chinese tea gardens. That occured around 1950s.
In our contemporary society, the tradition of tribute tea continues. The Chinese White House (Zhongnanhai) systematically collects in large quantity for their own consumption.
Now, it is turn for Mr Hu Jintao and Mr Wen Jiabao… Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiaobao’s turn…
And even former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher made a chance to visit the tribute tea gardens.
It is quite rightly the most royal tea. No wonder it is often called the Queen of Chinese Tea.
Fortunately, as our sociality developing, advanced tea technique enables to help other Chinese provinces, such as Fujian province which has advanced climate, grow and produce the same good quality Dragon Well Chinese tea. Therefore, relatively large quantity of Dragon Well Chinese tea enables not only imperial families enjoy Dragon Well Chinese tea, but also us common people.
